We did not have much of a Spring this year in NY. The early frost killed off most of the Magnolias, even before they reached full bloom. This is the first time I have seen that happen. The warmth of Spring came earlier than usual, so the Magnolias started to bloom. Then we got a artic blast and that ended the sweet song of these beautiful flowers prematurely.
This is from a photo I took in the Spring of 2015.
