In 1992 when the Berlin Wall came down, and the First World War finally ended (with the exception of the Middle East) we were all so incredibly happy! Finally all nations would have a chance to go back into their own history, and heal, and reconcile, and move everyone forward so this terrible cycle of wars that so dominated the 20th century would not happen again.
Unfortunately we were so wrapped up celebrating we did not pay attention to the capitalists and the socialists who were busy dividing up the world for power and profit, creating even deeper divisions, even greater disparities, everywhere in the world.
Of course there is the bright side. During this pandemic we have seen so much courage, so much persistence, so much Grace, it has been amazingly inspiring.
When are we going to reject the false dialectics of Capitalism/Socialism, Conservatism/Progressivism, etc, and base new parties and movements on the Grace we have seen around us every day for the last few months?
For me, that is the real crossroads, the real choice.
