Given that Halloween is on a Sunday this year, different localities are celebrating on different days. I know folks out in Columbus Ohio for example, celebrated on Thursday, Oct 28, which seems a bit early but that is how they do it!

I am celebrating on Saturday, Oct 30. For me somehow Halloween and Sunday don’t seem to mix. In fact I think, if Halloween falls on a Sunday it should automatically be moved to Saturday. That is just my opinion.

But whenever you celebrate:

Running down the halls,
building to building,
sacks of candy loot on our arms,
blue stars shining high above,
beyond the tilted, sky bound parapets,
stairways to oblivion,
stories barely told,
whispers and shouts, lovers and friends,
stolen kisses in the Autumn tides,
girls combs left in stairwells,
Halloween nights in this city of dreams.

Well here we are, can’t believe it, October 31, 2020, Halloween is here!

In those younger days, Halloween used to be one of the highlights of our year! You would get together with a whole bunch of kids and travel around the entire neighborhood, gathering candy, apples, and a having tons of fun!

In recent years, I have noticed that the number of folks knocking on my doors Halloween night has gone down, quite a bit. It varies, but the trend is down. Not sure why, maybe people are partying more at home.

Either way, however you celebrate this classic American holiday, Happy Halloween!

   Pre-Code Hollywood was able to push the envelope a bit without embracing vulgarity, but unfortunately this golden age was crushed by the puritan censors of the thirties. Many topics and scenarios were not taken on again until recently, a staggering suppression of creativity.

Thank God for the 1960s!

   This work is a simple tribute to that earlier, glorious age, also tying in with my themes for Halloween week!
