New Year’s Resolutions ! (#Quote #GraphicArts)

A solitary white swan
on a foggy New Year’s day,
a calamitous year of woe has passed,
I know,
but a new beginning is beckoning,
for those who still can believe.

New Year’s Day was quite foggy and overcast in Cornwall On The Hudson, so when I went for a walk I didn’t bother to take my camera. As fate would have it, while walking along the banks of the Hudson River I spotted what appeared to be a white swan, a bit far out from the shore in the foggy mist. I got as close as I could and took some photos with my small phone which has a so-so camera and got the best photographs I could.

The simple truth is, this is the first swan I have seen up here in my neck of the woods, since I moved here in August 2019. And swans generally don’t hang out alone. They generally have a partner, and for life, for that matter. So it was a startling yet beautiful event! And I immediately took this as a good sign, a positive omen!

So I am passing these good vibes on to you!

Here we are. We made it. Another difficult year of the Covid Pandemic. Something many of us thought would be in the rear view mirror by now.

Unfortunately it is not.

With that said, I wanted to pick a particularly inspiring photograph that I posted during the year. This is of a beautiful Great Blue Heron that during the months of July and August, pretty much hung out down by the Cornwall Landing, on Cornwall On The Hudson, where I tend to walk almost every day. Everyone who frequents the riverside park agreed, it was the most amazing thing! On several occasions I was able to get within ten feet or so of this magnificent bird without disturbing it, something I would not want to do.

I am not sure what prompted this behavior. I have done tons of research but I still have not been able to find any answers. Be that as it may for me it was and still is a beautiful omen for the future! It is something that both inspires me and gives me hope.

With that said I wish everyone the best New Year, and please remember to stay safe, and do everything possible to keep yourself healthy. We will get through this pandemic and if we work together we can minimize the damage it may do to ourselves and others.
