The courtyard is quiet now,
the children have all gone
to their homes,
for supper and tv, and tucking in;

And I,
I walk so quietly by
(not wanting to disturb
anything or anyone)
only to savor this silent nightfall,
and perhaps,
hear the ancient whisperings
of these green and gold leaves.
