Sorry,  I just could not resist!

A play on a line from a Bob Dylan song: “You don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.”

Have a great day!

Watch out for falling weather ballons!

The sound of the engines,
the closeness of friends,
roaring ahead, full throttle
down Old Post Road,
in the beauty and magic of night,

Dozens of bikes of all types,
sizes and shapes,
in unified motion, as one nation,
with a solid faith in each other,
and ourselves,

A shout, a rebel yell,
at last, an escape,
all for one, one for all,
all at once,
all of one kind.

Trains rumbling downtown
windows shaking sun bursting thru
welcome to New York

*************************************

The Third Avenue El was an elevated train (outdoor tracks elevated above street level) that operated in New York City from the late nineteenth century to the mid twentieth century. It went by businesses, offices, apartments, tenements, you name it, and became iconic in many ways. It could be quite noisy and cause window casements to rattle. It was built to service the growing population that flooded to New York City in the late nineteenth century, before the age of the automobile. Eventually elevated trains were phased out replaced by the underground subway system, one of the most extensive in the world.
