You and The Ronettes changed music forever and for the better
Thank you very much!
We all love you!
*********************************
Ronnie Spector (born Veronica Bennett) and her older sister, Estelle, and her cousin, Nedra Talley, made up the Ronettes and grew up in a part of New York City called Washington Heights. I was born right in Midtown Manhattan, and spent my very early years about five or six miles from Washington Heights. So for many of us The Ronettes were our home town girls who made good!
Right from New York City!
Other great groups from New York City would come along of course, but The Ronettes were among the first with a new style, combining beautiful voices, amazing harmonies, and an infectious stage presence that signalled the arrival of a new type of music and attitude. They helped pave the way for the iconic girl groups that were to come later and become part of our lives.

Yesterday we lost at very fine American, Colin Powell. In a way, he was the Dwight Eisenhower of the Cold War Generation, a man of courage, vision, patriotism, and dedication. Like Eisenhower, most sides of the political spectrum respected him.
As a political independent my entire life, I was hoping he would run for President but with the rise of ideologies, Conservatism and Progressivism, it was very hard for him to fit in. Colin Powell just would not fill the Conservative or Progressive check boxes. He was his own man from beginning to end.
I would have voted for him for sure, and for the only time in my life, would have strongly considered working in his campaign.
It just was not meant to be. Like other prominent public figures in American history, he is one of those who slipped through our fingers.
Maybe it is all for the best.
Rest In Peace, Colin Powell, and thank you for your service for the pubic good.
